While many who have viewed Igloo City feel this uninhabited building (sitting in the middle of no-man’s land) is creepy, we happen to find the story behind it quite fascinating. However, the real attraction is that each room is self-contained. With large windows and a partial glass roof, Aurora hunters can keep an eye on the sky at all times, giving you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Just a short drive down the road and located on the pristine Pyhätunturi mountain, you will find the Pyha Glass Igloos. These well-equipped cabins ensure you have everything you need in one place, leaving you to spend a cosy night searching the skies.

These glass bedrooms are dome-shaped much like the igloos. The purpose of the kelo-igloos is to provide the warmth and space of the cabins while also providing the bedroom of the igloo, thus allowing you to watch the sky. Though it is harder to watch the sky in the kelo village, as trees surround the bedrooms, it is still an amazing accommodation.

No one ever lived in igloos. They are/were temporary shelters used by hunters and travellers. They are only viable shelters for a few days, long enough to rest up or wait out a storm. Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos. The Arctic Snow Hotel & Igloos are located in far northern Finland above the Arctic Circle, 26km from central Rovaniemi. They offer a shuttle service but also have parking if you’re self-driving.
