Not quite so with iSCSI, though. I’ve asked them for support; in case you want to join in. ;D. After that, we need to move into the next relevant section: cd csi/nfs and create a generic secret in order for our storageclass to be able to find our NFS service. NFS server. Configure your sources directory as export (/etc/exports) in the NFS server that runs on your host machine. This way containers can mount source code.
the host and guest's firewall setup. In fact, this will be usable for more than just file system sharing.

It provides a FUSE-compatible File System Abstraction Layer(FSAL) to allow the file-system developers to plug in their own storage mechanism and access it from any NFS client. NFS has the file system located on the server, whereas iSCSI has it located on the client side. That would make the NFS need to check for cache and metadata on the server consistently. From the implementation point as well, iSCSI is a little difficult to handle and implement when compared to NFS. Some file systems are used on local data storage devices; others provide file access via a network protocol (for example, NFS, SMB, or 9P clients).

Compared to other Host/Guest file sharing options - commonly samba, nfs or 9p - virtiofs is usually much faster and also more compatible with usual file system semantics. For some extra compatibility in regard to filesystem semantics one can add:

vrozenfe commented on Nov 13, 2018. In my understanding a proper 9p fs solution for Windows should come in two pieces - some sort of bus driver (virtio device) and a network file system driver (so-called "monolithic redirector" driver, which with some modifications might be used for network fs over vsock as well). This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the 9P (protocol) article. This is not a forum for general discussion of the article's subject.
2014-10-25 · NFS Ganesha is a user-mode file server for NFS (v3, v4.0 , v4.1 pNFS) and for 9P from the Plan 9 operating system. It integrates with backend filesystems via its File System Abstraction Layer (FSAL) which is a set of loadable modules that implement the access to these filesystems. root@chantyou:~# yum search nfs Loaded plugins: langpacks ===== N/S matched: nfs ===== nfs4-acl-tools.x86_64 : The nfs4 ACL tools sblim-cmpi-nfsv3.i686 : SBLIM nfsv3 instrumentation libnfsidmap.i686 : NFSv4 User and Group ID Mapping Library nfs-ganesha.x86_64 : NFS-Ganesha is a NFS Server running in user space nfs-utils.x86_64 : NFS utilities and supporting clients and daemons for the kernel

NFS, like many other protocols, builds on the Open Network Computing Remote Procedure Call system. NFS is an open standard defined in a Request for Comments, allowing anyone to implement the protocol. Difference between NFS and 9p is explained here. For 9p shares, a mount: false option allows to define synced folders without mounting them at boot.
